Insider Foodie Thursdays, The Kerrygold Ballymaloe Lit Fest: Take Two | Litfest A Food and Drinks Literacy Festival at Ballymaloe

Looking for a food focus for your weekend? Make the pilgrimage to Ballymaloe for The Ballymaloe Lit Fest.

This weekend sees the return of the Ballymaloe Lit Fest to The Allens’ food haven in Shanagarry, Co Cork on the 16th, 17th and 18th of May.

Darina and Rachel Allen will be welcoming food enthusiasts from around the country and around the world to their cookery school to celebrate the best in food and wine writing.

After the success of the inaugural event last year, the team behind Lit Fest have put together an impressive programme of speakers for talks and demonstrations, including Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi (Ottolenghi), Maggie Beer, Thomasina Miers, Rene Redzepi (Noma), Sharon Hearne-Smith, Donal Skehan and plenty more.

All of the events are individually ticketed but entry to The Big Shed, with its fun market-style set up and plenty to see, is €5 per day.

In the run up to the festival, the official sponsor Kerrygold have been running a competition to find Ireland’s favourite butter-based family recipe. The deadline for entries was yesterday so keep an eye on to see which recipes have been crowned over the coming weeks.
