Trish Deseine a passionate advocate for Irish food presents her perspective on Irish food culture.
Trish Deseine is an Irish cookbook author, food writer and TV presenter of BBC NI & RTE cookery series. Born in Belfast, she has recently returned to Ireland from France where she lived for 25 years.
In 2000 Trish was approached by French publishers Hachette to write her first cookbook. It’s relaxed tone and original recipes made it an instant hit and the beginning of a 15 year career writing about food in France, for the French. Since then her twenty seven books have been translated all over the world. Trish also became a weekly cookery writer for ELLE France and wrote a popular series profiling up and coming chefs for ELLE a Table. Trish was a World’s Fifty Best restaurant French jury member and in 2009 she was named as one of French Vogue’s 40 women of the decade.
In 2015 Trish published HOME, an Irish cookbook. HOME was described by the Irish Times as “a love letter to Irish food and a landmark in Irish food publishing.” HOME is an affectionate, yet realistic snapshot of the best of modern and traditional food all over the island of Ireland.
With her four children now grown up, Trish is now living full time in Ireland, writing and consulting for the media, food and restaurant industries and presenting shows for BBC NI.
