Mary Dowey is one of Ireland’s leading wine writers. Wine editor of The Gloss magazine since its launch in 2006 and wine correspondent of the Irish Times from 1995 to 2005, she has visited and written about almost all of the world’s major wine-producing regions.
She contributes to the internationally renowned wine magazine Decanter, particularly about the Southern Rhône and Provence – areas of special interest about which she writes every few days on her widely followed blog www.provencefoodandwine.com. She was responsible for the Southern Rhône section of the major book The Wine Opus, covering 90 leading estates in that region. An experienced travel and food writer as well as a wine writer, Mary also edited the English edition of the Michelin Green Guide to Provence 2012.
She has written three books about wine – two guides for Irish consumers and one book aimed at an international audience, reflecting her enthusiasm for exciting wine and food partnerships. Food and Wine: Matching Made Simple has been translated into eight languages.
